So, What Does It Mean to Be Vegan?

A vegan diet means eating 100% plant-based – no meat, dairy, eggs or any other animal-derived products. Contrary to common belief, venturing into a vegan cuisine doesn’t have to be daunting or complex, and can be accessible even on a tight budget.

Veganuary can be a great opportunity to discover new and delicious food, while educating oneself about veganism and think about the wider impact it can have on animals, the environment and health.

The idea of Veganuary is that you can give it a go by doing as much or as little as you can. Whether you dive into a complete vegan diet, commit to 4 days a week, or even if you’re just dipping your toe in and exploring the world of veganism for one month, one meal at a time. The choice is entirely yours!

What Are the Benefits to Becoming Vegan?

Shifting to a vegan lifestyle is one of the most impactful actions an individual can take to reduce their carbon footprint. Significantly lower amounts of crops and water are required to sustain a vegan diet, making the switch to veganism an easy and effective way of reducing our environmental impact.

In addition, vegan foods are rich in essential nutrients, making veganism not only environmentally friendly, but also very beneficial to our health. Numerous studies highlight the potential for weight loss, reduced blood pressure, improved cholesterol levels, and more upon adopting a vegan diet.
