Baked apples stuffed with strudel & chestnuts

Ingredients

For the crumble topping:

  • 100 g flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 50 g butter
  • Small pinch of salt
  • 50 g oats

For the strudel filling:

  • 50 g Seggiano Chestnuts
  • 20 g mixed nuts
  • 20 g sultanas
  • 1 tbsp Seggiano Acacia Raw Honey
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 orange zest
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 6 Apples – we used Cox British apples
  • Knob of butter on top of each

Serve with Custard

Instructions

  1. Make your crumble topping by rubbing together the flour, cinnamon and butter until it comes together in nice lumps, then add the oats to combine to keep a bit of texture.
  2. Roughly chop your chestnuts, mixed nuts and sultanas and place in a bowl with the honey, finely grated ginger, orange zest and spices, and set to one side.
  3. Slice the top off your apples and remove the core.
  4. Stuff each apple with the strudel mix, making sure it’s nice and compact, then add the crumble topping on top, pushing it down slightly to make sure it stays in place, then place a small knob of butter to each.
  5. Place into the Vortex Air Fryer and select Air Fry, setting the time to 20 minutes and temperature to 190c.
  6. Serve with warmed custard and a drizzle of Seggiano Acacia Raw Honey.
